Due to the low crossover frequency of the MHT 12 8 Ohm this ribbon tweeter (it’s actually a magnetostat) may also be used in the VOX 253. Obviously the crossover has to be changed, compared with the KE 25 SC 8 Ohm. Fortunately, the two AL 130 8 Ohm need to be cut-off only marginally higher, ensuring that sufficient distance to the diaphragm resonance. The crossover frequency remains at 3000 Hz.
Since the MHT 12’s front plate is a little bigger, the two AL 130 8 Ohm have to be mounted 10 mm further apart. Both versions (the original VOX 253 with KE 25 SC and VOX 253 MHT) have the same high standards with regard to sound quality. Which version to choose is totally up to the listener’s personal taste.
