Coax 18 is a system, that can be built up:
- as a satellite (the coax) in a bass reflex cabinet
- as satellite with bass driver and passive crossover (our kit)
- as satellite with bass driver and 2 active subwoofer modules.

The rear of the satellite is wider than the front. If used as a surround centre speaker it should be placed horizontal, making it higher at the rear. Likewise, the subwoofer beneath is wider at the rear: the rear width is 38.2 cm while the baffle width is 32 cm.

The Coax 18 is perfectly suited for hi-fi stereo or surround sound systems. All drivers are magnetically shielded.

When the Coax 18 is used with subwoofer beneath (called Coax 18 Plus in the following), then the bass reflex ports of the satellites should be sealed.

Coax 18 Plus, excerpt of the review by K+T in 2/2006:

"We started with KT Tunstall, a Scotswoman of Chinese descent with an expressive voice, ranging from sensitive to scratchy and from subdued to authoritative, covering the full spectrum of music worth listening to. Listening to the first few bars of "Black Horse And The Cherry Tree" with an exciting rhythm coming from acoustic guitar and percussion, we noticed a lively and vivid, but never exaggerated sound reproduced by these concentric speakers. We really liked the excellent imaging of the Coax 18, especially when listening to Debussy's "Cello Sonata" and Schubert's "Schwanengesang". We could almost visualise Hermann Prey, standing in front of the grand piano with the cover up, his voice and breathing never deviating from dead centre. We were forced to switch to the passive Coax 18 Plus to be able to play Mahler's 5th Symphony performed by lnbal and the Frankfurt Radio-Sinfonie Orchester. While earlier some bass was missing, now the rolling and rumbling of the subwoofer emerged with all the power needed. But we never missed the precision required for reproducing beats of the kettledrum in quick succession due to the sealed cabinet. Mahler's characteristic drama was reproduced credibly, from soft to blaring, everything was clearly articulated. Completely different material like Handel's "Concerto Grosso No. 1" was lively and exciting, encouraging to hum along. In this way not only classical music is enjoyable, but also jazz, rock, blues and everything that doesn't depend on a system capable of a more spectacular reproduction. The music left a lasting impression behind. For the more spectacular material coming from Yello and their "Baby" we switched to the active Coax 18 Plus. According to our listening room we adjusted the level to 9 o'clock, the crossover frequency to 60 Hz and boosted the bass at 50 Hz by 3 dB. The cool and consummate ease displayed when playing "Capri Calling" and the formidable bass beating the dust of the carpet certainly left some of us gaping in astonishment."...
