Freedom is a floorstander with horn reflex design. Thereby, the rearward radiation of the woofers is fed through a tapered canal that expands again like a horn.

The speaker comprises a RBT-1516TB ribbon tweeter with excellent transparency, supported by the large dome midrange driver DM-75 TB. For bass two SPH-6TB are used in parallel.

The crossover is of 18 dB/oct. type and could be kept simple since the drivers are extremely balanced and don't need absorption circuitries and wave traps.

... "The Freedom is not the ultimate low bass marvel, but still has horn-like punch and decent oomph. The design performs by far better than expected, producing a realistic sound with a lot of pace - I could easily live with the bass. During listening tests it became clear that the actual star is the midrange / tweeter combination, doing an excellent job. The sound is so airy, pacey and accurate that nothing is left to be desired. The ribbon tweeter resolves even the smallest details with ease and one notices things on familiar recording that used to be hidden and the Freedom effortlessly builds up an imposing three-dimensionality. I don’t know what the name “Freedom” refers to – to me it’s how the speaker steps back and disappears behind an open and lively musical performance."

Please note: *) To ensure a wide choice we also supply crossover components from Jantzen, Mundorf and Intertechnik, not just from Monacor. The coils in series to the woofer have a wire of 1.4 mm instead of 1.2 mm resulting in a crossover that gets less hot and the bass is somewhat tighter. We also replaced coils with 1.2 mm wire with 1 mm where it made sense. In addition we use MKP capacitors throughout, instead of the lossier MKT capacitors.

Despite the higher quality components the price remains unchanged! Upon request original Monacor components are supplied.
