With this loudspeaker Gerd Lommersum, CEO of Vifa Germany introduces two novelties to the DIY community:

- the Vifa XT 300 HV-Neo/4 ring radiator, who got his name from a horn attachment made of aluminium. This speaker should be tilted a bit towards the listener, since the horn focuses the high frequencies slightly.

- the Vifa XW18 325/8 bass driver with wood fibre reinforced paper cone, shimmering a little reddish.

The MPR2 HXT review in Hobby HiFi 3/2007

"The MPR2 HXT outlines the music very clearly. . Resolution is excellent and the speaker allows deep insights into complex musical structures. Still, the sound is neither hard nor exaggerating the high frequencies. . Just the opposite: the total impression is quite soft and well balanced. The clear and tight bass, with a tendency to be voluminous certainly contributes to the overall picture. But extreme low bass cannot be expected due to its size. The spatial structure of the sound emphasises the foreground. Most vocals are just a notch in front of the speakers, like e.g. Marla Glen's in "The Cost Of Freedom". Instruments are clearly separated from one another and are placed relatively compact between the speakers. The sound detaches with ease from the speakers. Dynamic attacks considerably above normal listening level are handled by the MPR2 HXT with without any strain. There are neither compression effects nor does the sound harden, the speaker remains under complete control. But massive bass like e.g. "The Cost Of Freedom" might ask just a little too much from this speaker. It becomes clear that this is a compact shelf speaker. If the volume is reduced by just a notch, everything is back to normal. What remains is a beautifully structured and clear sound."
