There are customers that simply want the best subwoofer available. For rooms that are bigger than 25 m2 the Sub 42 is the answer. This sub was designed for rooms bigger than 50 m2 where 2 of them - arranged symmetrically - are used.
The main difference between the Sub 42 and many other subs is the excellent control of the bass drivers by their massive magnets / voice coils.
The idea behind the Sub 42: 4 x Alcone AC 12 SW8 bass drivers with strong magnets and extremely rigid cone ensuring tight control, supported by a unique low bass compensation. One enormously powerful subwoofer module is delivering the necessary power to drive this sub.
Low bass radiation depends a lot on the diaphragm's size, not forgetting that large diaphragms are often inaccurate. A sub with 4 cones (or even 2 x 4, if you wish) is eminently more capable than smaller radiating areas of e.g. Sub 12 or Sub 22.
The bass driver employed in the Sub 42 is the Alcone AC 12 SW8, a driver that is manufactured to the highest standards.
For amplification the following model was selected: Hypex DS 8.0. The amplifier is able to drive 4 speakers with two speakers in series.
The kit contains: - 4 x Alcone AC 12 SW8 bass drivers - an Hypex DS 8.0 amplifier module - 8 x HP100 bass reflex tubes, two each attached to one another and two pairs pointing upwards / downwards - 32 Allen wood screws 5x30mm - 24 wood screws Pan 4x20 - two mats needle felt - 16 cable fasteners - two N30 napped foamed plastic - sealing tape MDM-5 - building instructions(if as kit)
The design of the Sub 42 is basically a Sub 22 with another Sub 22 upside-down on top. That's the reason that two bass reflex tubes are pointing upwards. At a speaker height of 184 cm they are, however, difficult to spot.
