The Voice 3 is a party PA speaker with low priced P.Audio drivers. Although primarily a party PA speaker the Voice 3 also complies with hi-fi standards.

This shelf speaker is equipped with a high frequency horn P.Audio PHT-407T and a P.Audio WN-10R bass driver. The extremely short bass reflex tube raises the efficiency of the lower frequencies at the expense of low bass, which was not required anyway.

... "With "Walking On The Moon" the Police classic, this time performed by the Yuri Honing Trio, "The Voice 3" proved her drums capability with flying colours: such an explosiveness we had only experienced with the considerably more expensive 2006 model "The Voice", and obviously with our reference "Optimum". The double bass by Renaud Garcia-Fons was quite a challenge for the low bass talent of this party animal - passed again with top marks. Even though the bottomless bass was lacking this two-way speaker reproduced this massive stringed and plucked instrument realistically and with impressive might. The "3" also knew how to stage Marla Glen's "The Cost of Freedom" with competence. The entire low frequency spectrum was reproduced flawlessly, combining volume and attention to detail perfectly. The a cappella piece "Grandma's Hand" by Livingston Taylor proved to be a credit to name "Voice". Like the original version, this speaker loves vocals above all, they are well balanced, three-dimensional and realistic. Finally, we put on "Something Grand" by the Hilton Ruiz Ensemble, an incredible recording from 1986. "Home Cookin' " is a seething mixture of Afro and Latino jazz, dominated by percussion that is perfectly staggered in width and depth. This staggering is exactly replicated by "The Voice 3". The original volume, at peaks considerably above 110 dB, was no problem. Right up to the maximum volume the sound remained well balanced, three-dimensional and revealed all details."

The Voice 3 with high grade components

For the high-end version Hobby HiFi recommends to replace the Bondum damping material with Damping 30. Like suggested by Hobby HiFi we use MKP capacitors with 400V for this version. 600V don't improve the sound at all. But, if required, we supply them as well.
