Technical data:
- size (HxWxD): 40 x 20 x 30 cm
- impedance: 8 Ohm

Wavecor is a subwoofer capable of producing extremely low bass from small cabinet. To achieve this, the Wavecor SW 178 WA 01 was combined with a matching passive membrane.

Depending on the set-up (by means of adding weight to the passive membrane or choice of subwoofer amplifier) this sub may be used as low bass expert or as standard type.

Wavecor drivers are made in China; three top managers at Wavecore used to be managers at Vifa and Peerless resp. DST.

Excerpt from the review in Hobby HiFi 5/2008

... "Behind the flat screen the Hypex equipped cube is not all that noticeable. But that changed dramatically when the Manger Test CD started rotating in our Plextor drive: the double bass was the crème de la crème, deep, clear and dark. But coming out of PC speaker? - Is this possible? The entire frequency spectrum of drums, from hi-hat and triangle to the thunder of the kettledrum, was unbelievable clear, dynamic and displayed a awesome depth. It's absolutely clear: this subwoofer turns the BlueSats into high performance speaker. Using the same programme we put the Bluesats on 60 cm high stands and the sub dead centre. Bass rumble as forceful as from a gown up subwoofer flooded our listening room. The finale of Bach's St Matthew Passion (Reference Recordings, St Mary's Cathedral Ruffati Pipe Organ) was reproduced I all it's might and glory. The snag is: one has to be cautious with the volume control. 'Loud" is the only thing that doesn't work with these midgets - physics maybe applied in a clever way but cannot be turned upside down. To increase the power handling the Hypex was replaced with a Mivoc AM 80 and the weight of the passive membrane was reduced by 80 grams. Now, it became quite difficult to unsettle the subwoofer and the volume could be turned up a bit. But still, all good things come to an end. Nevertheless, the low bass dynamics were considerably better than with the Hypex version, at the expense of bass depth. Considering the size of this trio the overall low bass output was absolutely amazing." ...
